Family of De la Ghetto:
He is the son of Rafael Castilo and Migdalia Torres. His mother is Dominican and father is from Puerto Rican. Ghetto’s father was killed by Police after a few months of his birth because Migdalia was a member of Cartel. At the age of eight years old his mother was imprisoned for six years in Argentina. He lived with his grandmother and moved to San Juan.
Education / Music Practice:
De la Ghetto’s did not complete any traditional education and were very limited to the academic background. He got interested in music at an early age and started to absorb a variety of music from American hip hop to salsa, reggaeton and dancehall. He did not attend any music classes and all his composition is based on self learning.
Collaboration with Arcangel:
In starting he released a duo “Arcángel & De la Ghetto” with Arcangel singer and introduced himself in the music world almost mid-2000s. In this duo there were iconic tracks like “Ven Pegate” and “Sorpresa” of the time that came out which gave them a huge success and they became prominent figures in the reggaeton and urban movement in Puerto Rico.There was a unique style in his songs as mixing the rhythms of reggaeton, hip hop and R&B which made him memorable in the audience. His songs also reflect the reality of his life and mishaps.
First Studio Album:
De la ghetto released his first solo studio album “Masacre Musical“ in 2008 after getting success in duo. Some of the hit songs from the album are “Tú te imaginas” and “Lover”. He has a great reach in both the audience of Latin America and Spanish due to his fluency in English and Spanish. After getting the success in his first Album Ghetto worked with big names like Daddy Yankee, Don Omar and J Balvin.
Second and Third Studio ALbum:
In 2018 Ghetto released his second album “Mi Movimiento” which will show success in Urban music. This album also earned him a nomination in the Latin Grammy Awards.
There was a third studio “Los Chulitos” released on August 28, 2020 and this album contains many collaboration songs such as Arcangel, Rauw Alejandro and many other artists.
Release of GZ:
He left Warner Music Latina in 2023 and released his third album as an independent artist “GZ “. This album contains songs like “My Love” with Quevedo and “Me Dijo” collaboration with Myke Towers.
Considered one of the pioneers in the fusion of reggaeton with hip hop and R&B in Spanish, he contributed to the evolution of the urban genre. There were also many collaborations with artists like Bad Bunny, Nicky Jam and Ozuna.

In an interview De la Ghetto gave a statement that he married with Veronica and have three childrens William, Madonna and Osiris.
