Sabrina Carpenter was born on May 11, 1999 in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, United States.
Family:
Sabrina is the daughter of David and Elizabeth Carpenter. She has younger sisters like Sarah, Shannon and Cayla.
Training:
She was homeschooled but also took acting and music lessons. At such a young age, she started taking singing and dance classes that laid a solid foundation for her future profession. Homeschool programs gave her a chance to balance her academics with her growing career in showbiz.
When she became 10 years old, she uploaded videos of herself performing songs by Christina Aguilera and Adele on YouTube. His dad built her a music studio to encourage her love for music.
Beginnings:
One of the most significant strides in this career was when she turned up at The Next Miley Cyrus Project singing competition hosted by Miley Cyrus back in 2011; subsequently placing third. That same year saw her land an acting job on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. This exposed her to more opportunities in acting as there were other TV offers coming her way rapidly.
Path:
Her popularity surged after being cast as Maya Hart in the television show Girl Meets World (2014-2017) which aired on Disney Channel. This series was a hit hence offering Sabrina platform where she could not only act but also sing. Simultaneously, she decided to pursue a musical path with first track Can't Blame a Girl for Trying singles dropping out 2014 followed by eponymous debut EPs.
Moreover, there are films she starred in including Adventures In Babysitting (2016), The Hate U Give (2018), The Short History of the Long Road (2019), Clouds (2020) and Emergency(2022).
In the Broadway musical Mean Girls -2020,she acted among other things. Furthermore, Netflix offered Tall Girl (2019), Tall Girl 2 (2022) and Work It (2020),where she also served as an executive producer.
Musical Career:
In the year 2015, she released a debut LP called Eyes Wide Open, an album that was favorably reviewed and marked her entry into music business. EVOLution (2016), her second LP showed growth as an artist as well as musical growth evinced in her pop sound and electronic touches. Hits like Thumbs or Why.
This was followed by Singular: Act II in 2019 after releasing Singular: Act I in 2018 featuring the singles Alien, Almost Love, and Sue Me topping the US Dance Club Songs chart. Three years later, she released Emails I Can't Send, which received positive reviews from critics.
She signed with Island Records in 2021 leading to the release of Skin, her first song to be listed on Billboard Hot 100.
The next record, Emails I Can't Send (2022), proved the most successful since it reached #1 on Billboard 200 backed up by Nonsense and Feather that placed in top ten of US Pop Airplay.
From 2023 through to 2024, Taylor Swift invited Sabrina Carpenter to open for him during his Eras Tour.
Short n' Sweet (2024) is Carpenter's forthcoming album following "Espresso" and "Please Please Please," which both went number one on Billboard Global 200 chart including the latter being her first song at number one on the Hot 100 before its release.
Private Life:
Carpenter dated actor Joshua Bassett from 2020 through until late last year. Towards the end of last year however, she entered into a relationship with Irish actor Barry Keoghan.
She likes reading literature, writing essays, and visual arts. She’s also a champion for several social causes such as gender equality and children’s rights. For instance; she writes posts where she answers questions posed by fans and shares personal updates via social media platforms.
