In Tarzana, Los Angeles in California, United States, Doja Cat was born on October 21, 1995.

Family of Doja Cat:

A daughter of Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer who is a Jewish graphic designer and Dumisani Dlamini who is a South African actor, music composer and producer known for the role of musical Sarafina! He had played on Broadway. She has one elder brother who influenced her desire for singing and rapping.

Early years and training:

Amala’s early childhood was with her maternal grandmother in New York before she was taken back to California where she lived in an ashram and practiced Hinduism for some years.

She took dance classes as a teenager and belonged to a break dancing ensemble. At age sixteen she decided to leave high school because she suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Musical career:

As a teenager, she began her musical journey by uploading songs on SoundCloud. In 2014, under the song So High which became her first hit record, she signed contracts with Kemosabe Records and RCA Records. The following year saw the release of her first EP Purrr! along with several singles that announced the arrival of this new talent.

The single Mooo ! featured on Amala that happened to be her debut album went viral online in 2018 due to its funny style. That triumph made Doja famous; consequently, it allowed her second studio album Hot Pink out in 2019 make it into Billboard’s Top Ten Albums chart; Say So, its lead single whose remix featuring Nicki Minaj peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Doja Cat Third Album:

"Planet Her" is her third album that was released in 2021 and spent four weeks at number 2 on the Billboard 200. Kiss Me More, Need to Know, and Woman are some of her singles that earned praise for her versatility in style as well as collaborations with artists like SZA.

His fourth studio album, Scarlet, was released in 2023 bearing more hip hop sound and it went on to make top five on the United States’ music billboard for two hundred. In eight other countries, his first lead single as a soloist Paint the town red became his first number one in hot hundred after its release. At the end of the year 2024, she came up with a deluxe edition of Scarlet called Scarlet 2: Claude that consisted of seven new songs.

The Global Citizen Fest held at Central Park New York City took place on September 28, where she performed alongside Post Malone.

Stage name and style

She adopted her stage name “ Doja Cat ” from smoking weed (commonly known as “doja”) and cats.

Her music, performances, and social media presence all capture her vibrant personality which is best known for being creative and sometimes strange. With these different genres such as hip-hop, pop rap & b electro-pop combined together into one album. The attention of fans and critics can be encapsulated by this individuality which has always been reinventing herself through her unique style.

Private life:

This singer had an affair with musician JAWNY starting in mid-2019 until February 2020. She said she was sexually attracted to anyone who would sleep around with her.

She donated $100000 towards a foundation fighting for justice for Breonna Taylor in June last year to protest against death caused by police brutality towards black people..

Doja Cat’s interests go far beyond the world of music as she enjoys immersing herself in different cultures including Japanese and Indian.
