Anibal Colapinto and Andrea Trofimczuk are parents of Franco. He has a younger sister, Martina. He did not have any direct background in professional racing. Although his family has a great passion for motorsports that’s why they support Franco a lot in accomplishing his dreams personally and professionally.

Beginning & Training:
From a very young age Franco colapinto has shown interest in motorsports that’s why he took part in the local and national championships at the age of nine. Due to his exceptional skills in speed, he started to take part in the higher level competitions. He trained himself a lot, that's why he has a strong foundation in technical skills and competitive mindset which gives him a successful career.
Achievements in Beginning:
In 2016 he won the (Pre-Junior class) Argentine Championship. Franco won the Buenos Aires Regional Championship in consecutive two years 2016 and 2017. In 2018 Colapinto won a gold medal in the Summer Youth Olympic Games. In the same year he again won the Argentine Championship ( Sudam Class).
Debut in Spanish Formula 4:
Colapinto started in single-seater racing in 2018 after his debut in the Spanish Formula 4. He made much of the debut season and clinched several wins, standing 3rd in manners for Roberts for the championship. This shift in standings turned heads within the motorsport industry enabling him to take it to the next level in Europe.
F4 UAE Championship:
The following year, he progressed further in the world of motorsport by starting to compete in Euroformula Open – a series where he once again proved his disregard for talent at the wheel. In the same year he competed in F4 UAE and won the championship further enhancing the young driver’s status among the best young race car drivers of the new decade.
In 2020, he began racing in Formula Renault Eurocup events using the services of MP Motorsport. He netted several wins and took the 3rd place in the ranking confirming the ability of the driver to perform at this level.
Achievements in Le Mans Series:
In the beginning of 2021, he raced in Asian Le Mans Series with G-Drive Racing, where he took 3 pole positions and 3 podiums in four races, along with Rui Andrade and John Falb completing the team’s LMP2 third place.
On the other hand, he also tried his skills on the European Le Mans Series with the same team and on the European Formula Regional Championship with MP Motorsport. As for the European Le Mans Series, he got on the podium 2 times, with one of them being a victory in Le Castellet and won 4th place in the Drivers’ Championship. As for the European Formula Regional Championship, he had 2 wins and 4 podiums to finish sixth overall. In the same year, he also raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, being the second youngest driver in attendance.
Participation in FIA Formula 3:
In October 2020, he took part in FIA Formula 3 post-season testing with the MP Motorsport team and finished in positions 12 and 13. He was finally able to get back after the November racing calendar and proved himself to be the fastest in one of the sessions. In 2022 he moved to Van Amersfoort Racing where he was able to win some races including the pole position on his Riviera debut at the Sakhir Circuit. He also finished 4th in the Championship in 2023 which tallied to 110 points after he was involved in an unfortunate circumstance during the last round that ruled out his chances of finishing second. After his excellent season in Formula 3, a petition supporting the movement for Colapinto to the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2024 was started in the social networks of Argentina.
Enrolment in Formula 2:
On 3 October 2023, during the press conference held in Buenos Aires, Colapinto informed that he could make his Formula 2 debut at the last round of 2023 taking place at Yas Marina, with only one confirmation outstanding in respect of the team. To that end, MP Motorsport confirmed the announcement, dated October 25, on his engagement in the competition, and named him the first pilot in the 2024 season. Joined the Williams Driver Academy early 2023.
Enrolment in Formula 1:
On 1 November of the same year, he was the first Argentine driver to take part in a Formula 1 test after the Ricardo Risatti era. Driving the Williams FW45 simulator although 2007 was a post-season practice session. He was tenth in the morning session but managed to end the afternoon session in 22nd place ahead of regular driver Alexander Albon. He performed well which earned him the FIA super licence. On 5th July 2024, he participated in his first free practice of a Formula 1 event at the occasion of British Grand Prix.
In a statement Williams stated they would sign up Colapinto to replace Logan Sargeant in the team on and after the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix but will compete with them for the rest of the Formula 1 season. He will make his F1 debut at the 2024 Italian Grand Prix and will become the first Argentine to take part in the competition since Gastón Mazzacane, who raced for F1 in 2001. The driver will complete the last nine races of the 2024 season and then Carlos Sainz Jr. will take the seat.
In October 18, 2024 Franco took part in the United States Grand Prix 2024 race driving the Williams Mercedes and achieved the 10th position. In this race Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri also took part and achieve better position of 4th and 5th.
Private life of Franco:
Franco Colapinto did not share his relationships and personal life officially too much. As, he is known for his focus and dedication to motorsport, dedicating much of his time to training and improving his skills. Other than professional life, Franco enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and has a strong bond with his home country of Argentina, despite spending most of his time in Europe due to his career. He is a fan of Boca Juniors.
Summary:
A racing driver from Argentina, he has achieved prominence in the category of Formula 4 and other international competitions such as Formula Renault Eurocup and Formula 3. The fact that he can master and switch between varied categories and racing conditions is what also makes him a very adaptable and competitive racer.
