Cha Eun-woo Biography

South Korean singer, actor and Known as a member of the South Korean boy group ASTRO.

Cha Eun-woo was born in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea on March 30, 1997.

Studies:

He compltedt his studies in Suri Middle School and Suri High School before graduating from Hanlim Multi Art School in 2016. Afterward, he went to Sungkyunkwan University to study performing arts.

Besides Korean, he also speaks English and Japanese.

Actor:

In 2014 he debuted as an actor in a film called My Brilliant Life playing a role of a supporting character. It made him become the face of Shara, a Korean cosmetics brand after it was released .

STAR:

He was among the iTeen Photo Test Cut trainees officially introduced by Fantagio in August 2015. He also participated in To Be Continued web series together with other Astro members that same year.

Debut and Early Activities in 2016:

The group ASTRO made their debut through EP Spring Up on February 23rd ,2016. The following month Cha Eun-woo took part in Replies That Make Us Flutter variety show while September saw him participate in Boomshakalaka pilot program. Afterwards starting from the Show! Music Core (February 13th , 2016 - October 14th , 2018), he took up hosting for three years consecutively. Besides that, during the same year he appeared on My Romantic Some Recipe web drama.

Rising Popularity in 2017:

He appeared on Hit the Top in the same year and starredin Sweet Revenge. He was also an MC for MBC Gayo Daejejeon from this time till the previous one .

Breakthrough in 2018:

His breakout came with his roles of main characters both on Top Management - where he played a manager – and Gangnam Beauty - a romantic comedy series . As such his fame skyrocketed making him part of GQ Korea's “Men of the Year” list in 2018.

Success and Fame In 2019:

Then he featured in the costume drama Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung (2019) as Prince Yi Rim, second in line to the throne, living a double life as a lonely young prince and a popular romance novelist. He was awarded the Excellence Award for Actor and Best Couple Award alongside his co-star at the MBC Drama Awards for his role in this performance. Furthermore, he became a cast member of Handsome Tigers, which is a variety show.

Venturing into Variety Shows & Music in 2020:

He joined the television program Master in the House as a fixed cast member in April 2020 and won Rookie Award at the SBS Entertainment Awards held in that same year. That December, he portrayed Lee Su-ho’s character on True Beauty.

Further Musical Endeavors and Acting in 2021:

In June 2021, Cha Eun-woo left Master in the House and dropped Don't Cry, My Love – a ballad with piano performance – in November of that year from an Over The Oak Tree comic book’s official soundtrack. A year later, he made the song Focus On Me for The Villainess Is A Marionette's soundtrack out on February 22nd.

Film And TV Roles In 2022:

Subsequently, he played a navy officer part in action film Decibel which came out in November of 2022. Cha Eun-woo also appeared on Amazon Prime Video series Island as an exorcism priest later that month. Fantagio released an agency statement on December 30th confirming that Cha had decided to extend his contract with them.

Cha Eun-woo Achievements In 2023:

Throughout this period of time (i.e., during 2023), he took part Baek Se-hee’s role in A Good Day To Be A Dog; Wonderful World; Jealousy remake was put online on October 18th as part of official drama A Good Day To Be A Dog OST. On 27th October, he became the first artist to be awarded Global Icon at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan in 2023, an award recognizing his worldwide accomplishments. Cha will debut as a soloist next year and perform all songs including for the first time at the fan concert held in Seoul according to Fantagio’s announcement. Fashion:

He received a lucrative endorsement deal as O’Neill sportswear brand ambassador in May 2021 and also became Burberry’s global representative . He took on Kevy’s hosting role when it debuted. Two years later, he was named an honorary ambassador for Visit Korea Year 2023-2024 promoting Korean tourism overseas.

Summary:

A South Korean singer, dancer, actor and model who has built a strong reputation for himself on stage and screen by not only his good looks but also through his works. He is considered one of Korea's most famous visual members working in show business today. Astro made its debut under Fantagio Entertainment in 2016.
