Tim Walz was born in West Point, Nebraska, United States on April 6, 1964.

Family:

He is one of four children born to Darlene Rose Reiman a homemaker and James F. Walz teacher, school superintendent, and U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. In an accident in 2016, his brother Craig Walz died leaving him with three brothers. His parents are Catholics while he is Lutheran.

Education of Tim Walz:

He passed through Butte Public High School where he excelled academically and athletically before proceeding to Chadron State College for his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in social science education. For his Master’s program in educational leadership at MSU-Mankato Minnesota State University-Mankato, he enrolled there as well in the year 2001 such that he became an alumnus.

Military service:

Walz joined the United States Army National Guard after college where he served for twenty-four years rising to become a Command Sergeant Major. Furthermore, he and his wife were the proprietors of Educational Travel Adventures which organized summer educational trips to China for high school students.

Career in politics:

Walz decided to run for United States House of Representatives in 2006 to represent Minnesota's first district marking the beginning of his political career. His victory was noteworthy because he defeated the incumbent Gil Gutknecht. While in Congress, Tim Walz concentrated on veterans’ rights, education, and agriculture among other issues relevant to the United States citizens. His bipartisan approach made him popular among other politicians since it helped him work with people from different political ideologies for common good.

Governor of Minnesota:

In 2018 he declared that he would be running for Governor of Minnesota. On November 6th 2018 Walz was elected defeating Dave Hughes who represented Republicans’ interests.Walz took oath of office on January 7th,2019 as the Governor of Minnesota.

During this time in office, he has undertaken some key initiatives such as expanding access to health care systems across the whole nation besides reforming criminal justice systems including their responses towards COVID-19 pandemic that saw them receive accolades due to their proper handling of health crisis by putting place measures that holds public safety and also prevents economic repercussions coming from this pandemic. On August 6th,Harris officially named him as his running mate Josh Shapiro eventually losing to him and Mark Kelly (Senator from Arizona), Governor of Pennsylvania. She selected him because he has great experience in governance and is a practical leader. His campaign addressed issues such as national unity, health care reform, and climate change mitigation.

Private Life:

In 1994, he got married to Gwen Whipple who is also an educator. They have been blessed with two children; Hope and Gus.

He enjoys gardening, sports, and reading on history and politics.
