Andres is a son of Luis Enrique and Patricia Spitz. He claims an ancestry of Irish and German. His paternal grandfather Enrique Ojeda was an Irishman and migrated to Uruguay. Enrique worked on the railroad and later after a lot of hard work he reached the rank of colonel in the Army. Andres' maternal grandfather was a lawyer by profession and originally from germany.

He goes to Colegio La Mennais which is located in the Punta Gorda neighborhood of Montevideo. In his childhood and younger age he joined the scouts which helped him a lot in his personal and professional development. Andres got admission in the University of the Republic to study Law and specialize in Criminal Law. He also has an Economic Criminal Law postgraduate degree from the university of Montevideo. He goes to American University for a diploma in Criminal Oral Litigation. Later, he did a master’s degree in Criminal Law from the Austral University of Buenos Aires.

Andres practiced as a renowned criminal lawyer before enrollment in politics as his training was central in developing a career. He was interested in standing for human rights and criminal law during his university studies and later he had an important role for the defense of civil rights in the country.

Career of Andres:

In the beginning Andes Ojeda worked in a law firm as an assistant. He got public visibility due to one of his clients, Tupamaro guerrilla Hector Amido Perez.

Some time later, journalist Claudio Romanoff came with a proposal for him to try on television, this time as a legal columnist, with the first of these being on Telenoche on Channel 4. Subsequently, he was invited to join the morning program Buen Día Uruguay , where he had a weekly segment on criminal law and some Judicial processes. In 2016, he became a part of the cable channel VTV, while writing a ¨Legal Grid¨ in its newest VTV Noticias. Thereafter, he began to get other television opportunities more often which made him more visible in the media. In 2020, V. Juan became a lawyer for the Police Officers Union of Montevideo-Uruguay (Sifpom). Also, as a practicing attorney, he has his own law firm oligarchic-owners, rated ‘excellent’ for three years in a row by the French financial services firm Leaders League.

Political career:

During his university years, he joined the student group Foro Universitario , of Batllista orientation. Thanks to this participation, he was invited to attend a speech by former president Julio María Sanguinetti at a meeting of the Foro Batllista sector, which led him to later join the Colorado Party .

In the 2004 general elections, he actively supported the ticket headed by Guillermo Stirling and Tabaré Viera . In the 2010 municipal elections, he was elected departmental councilor of Montevideo for the period 2010-2015. In the 2019 internal elections, he again supported former president Julio María Sanguinetti, this time as a member of the Batllista sector, and in the general elections in October of that year, he joined Ernesto Talvi 's team as an advisor on security issues.

In October 2023, he went on asserting that the battle against organized crime and the enhancement of the efficiency of the Uruguayan judicial system are worth a tangible discourse on public safety, he has advocated for the reform of criminal legislation and the development of measures which help achieve steady progress within the system of justice. In February 2020, ruling in favor of the Colorado Party declarative inside the Multicolor Coalition, he became a substitute of Laura Raffo in her bid for the Mayorship of Montevideo for the departmental and municipal elections of that year.

Ojeda did not shy away from announcing his Presidential aspirations, hence him social media on November 11 2023. His politics was on a “renewal” campaign.

Less than a month after the elections, Ojeda managed to divorce himself from all other contenders for the presidency of the Colorado Party by way securing 39.5% of the vote in internal elections held at the party on June 30, 2024. On July 1, Ojeda sought the endorsement of Robert Silva whom she proposed to be vice president running on the same electoral podium with Ojeda for the general elections scheduled for October. On August 17, the National Convention of the Colorado Party declared that the formula of Ojeda Silva is official. On the other hand, August 29 commemorated several major social issues ,included in the release Ojeda “Contract with Uruguay” Is a lack of focus on mental health and animal wellbeing, some economic deregulation promoters. During the campaign, he positioned himself against the constitutional reform of the social security system and supported the holding of night raids.
