Marileidy Paulino was born in Don Gregorio, Nizao province, Dominican Republic on October 25, 1996.

Family:

Anatalia Paulino was Marileidy,s mother . She grew up in a single-parent family and her mother took care of her. The problems she encountered during her childhood,s made her to desire about creating a foundation for orphans that remains the focus of her life.

Marileidy,s Training:

She went to primary school in Don Gregorio where she developed an early interest in sports. She was spotted while at Alirio Paulino high school in Nizao which is also her home town; thereafter, she started getting involved with sports.

She joined volleyball and almost became part of national handball team. After training for one year, she was seen by the then Minister of Sports when participating in a competition. For this reason, she was taken to an athletic camp and employed by the Athletics Federation. Her running started barefoot.

In 2021, she enrolled at Santo Domingo Autonomous University to pursue physical education studies.

Medals at the Military Games:

A member of the Air Force of the Dominican Republic, Paulino was promoted to Second Lieutenant in 2023 and awarded medals from Pan America Flight Medal which were worn on Dominican Air force Uniforms after winning various medals at the Military Games held annually by Dominican Republic military forces.

Path of olympics:

She specialized in 400 meters and won silver at Tokyo Olympics 2020 – becoming the first individual athlete from Dominique who won an Olympic medal.

Paulino got silver at World Athletics Championships 2022. Also within those tournaments, She bagged two silvers as well as a gold for mixed relay 4x400m, clocking time limits of 48.7 seconds (2021) and then breaking it down to become48.47 seconds (in 2022).

Pauline became world number one over four hundred meters distance around May twenty third two thousand and three. She also silver medalist in two hundred meters at military world game 2019, gold medalist four hundred meters at Ibero-American Championship 2022 and won the Diamond League over 400 meters in 2022. At Pan American Games of 2023 - she took home four medals: mixed relay – her team won gold; in 4x100m she was third with time of 22.74, while silver went to her for the women’s relay (4x400) and national record breaker for 60 meters indoors, 200 m indoors/outdoors as well as 400 m, also, she has national records of 4 × 400 meter relay and mixed relay.

Paris 2024 Olympic Games:

During the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, she started her performance by being the flagbearer for Dominican Republic at the opening ceremony and advancing to the semi-finals after winning her qualifying series.

She ran in heat five of the qualifiers completing in 49.42 seconds hence having the fastest time throughout, thus surpassing other strong competitors like Cuba’s Roxana Gómez who ran a personal best of 50.38 seconds, and Mexico’s Paola Morán who finished third with a time of 51.04 seconds.

On August 9th, 2024 Marileidy Paulino won a gold medal in women's 400 meters final, becoming first ever woman from Dominican Republic to do so. She also broke an Olympic record by running faster than anyone else in this race – it took her just 48.17s for that!!
